When we are in pain and are told that a medical device or other product can make us feel better, we trust that the product will deliver positive results. That, tragically, doesn't always happen.

In the case of one Texas man who sought a hip replacement in 2008 to supposedly improve his quality of life, he claims that the Depuy device has caused him a great deal of trouble. He has filed a personal injury lawsuit against the manufacturer of the now notorious medical device.

According to a Texas source, the product liability suit was filed earlier this month. The man and his wife are both plaintiffs in the case. They believe that the Depuy device should not even have been available for use at the time of his surgery. Patients who have been given Depuy hip replacements have complained of dangerous, painful side effects caused by the device.

The plaintiffs are disappointed and upset that the hip replacement has not improved the patient's quality of life. He reports having trouble doing simple things such as sitting and standing. Also, he complains of intense pain as a result of the surgery and regrets that he will have to go through another surgical procedure in order to fix what's been done.

Exactly how much the plaintiffs seek in damages is undisclosed. Of course, they want to be compensated for the medical costs they've incurred due to the medical procedure and its complications. This experience has greatly challenged the patient and his family emotionally, and they want some money for that suffering as well.
