Over the weekend, a collision involving two vehicles wound up injuring a 48-year-old pedestrian who had nothing to do with the car crash. According to a Dallas witness, the man was filling his stalled car up with gas on the side of the road when he was interrupted by a potentially fatal blow.
The witness, who reports that he was sitting in his car right behind the injured pedestrian's stranded vehicle, says he saw a taxi minivan filled with riders go through the intersection near the Dallas Convention Center. The taxi did not clear the intersection because it crashed into the side of an SUV.
After investigating the accident, police discovered that the taxi driver had run a red light, which is likely why the SUV was hit. But the damage to the SUV was just the beginning. When the car accident occurred, the SUV flipped over and proceeded to slide toward the pedestrian who was filling his car with gas.
According to reports, the pedestrian was hit by the SUV, and the impact sent him "about 12 feet" away from where he was standing when he was struck. Nearby citizens went to the victim to help and found that he was still alive but unconscious.
The pedestrian is still alive but in critical condition and suffering from a head injury. He is being treated for his serious injuries at a Dallas facility. As for the others involved in the car accident, both drivers were hospitalized without severe injuries. None of the seven riders from the taxi minivan were seriously injured.
Because the taxi driver allegedly did run a red light, it is likely that this car accident will become a personal injury lawsuit. We will update you as details develop.
